Since its opening in 1992, Gaain Gallery had been very active in the 90s by hosting exhibitions of domestic artists like Inhyun Lee, Byunghun Min, Myungseop Hong and Kwangyeop Cheon, and of foreign artists including Gottfried Honegger and Roman Opalka, organizing group exhibitions like <Gaain-The Nineties> and participating in renowned foreign art fairs. In Fall 2005, the gallery re-opened its door at a new site where Unglo Lee Museum in Pyungchang-Dong used to take place. Starting with <ONGOING> exhibition which examined the influence of Minimalism on contemporary art, Gaain Gallery is going to present various exhibitions of both domestic and foreign artists that are not limited to specific genre or medium. Also, we hope to continue the legacy of <Gaain-The Nineties> by hosting two group exhibitions in a year under the title of <Gaain-The 2000’s>, and to promote not only contemporary art, but also antiques that become the base and root of contemporary art in near future. Gaain Gallery will successfully accomplish its role as deliverer of fine art having high quality that harmonizes time and region.

가인갤러리는 1992년 청담동에 화랑을 설립한 이후 이인현, 민병헌, 홍명섭, 천광엽 등 국내 작가들과 Gottfried Honegger, Roman Opalka 등의 외국 작가들의 개인전과 <Gaain · The Nineties> 등 다수의 그룹전을 개최하고, 해외 유명 아트페어에 참여하는 등 1990년대 활발히 활동한 바 있습니다. 그리고, 2005년 가을 평창동 (구)이응노미술관 자리로 갤러리를 이전하여 새롭게 문을 열게 되었습니다. 미니멀리즘이 현대미술에 미친 영향력을 살펴보는 재개관전 <ONGOING>전을 시작으로 하여, 가인갤러리는 앞으로 특정 장르와 매체에 국한되지 않은 다양한 국내외 현대미술 작가들의 전시를 기획하여 선보일 예정입니다. 또한 1990년대 좋은 호응을 얻은 바 있는 <Gaain · The Nineties>의 계보를 이어 일년에 두 차례씩 새로운 작가를 발굴하고자 하나의 주제 아래 그룹전 <Gaain · The 2000’s>를 개최하고, 향후 현대미술 뿐 아니라 고미술과 관련된 전시와 사업도 추진하고자 합니다. 이로써 시대와 지역을 아우르는 질 높은 예술의 전달자와 통로의 역할을 충실히 하고자 합니다.
